MetroED News and Highlights
SVCTE Law Enforcement Students Participate in Fallen Officer Ceremony During Christmas in the Park

Christmas in the Park holds an annual holiday event in San Jose. This year 27 Silicon Valley Career Technical Education Law Enforcement students, led by their instructor Oscar Bazurto, joined Silicon Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 52 in honoring law enforcement officers and K-9’s from throughout the nation who lost their lives protecting the community during the year. FOP Lodge 52 takes it further with a formal dedication to a unique Christmas tree with custom-made ornaments of law enforcement officers.
Superintendents and Board members Tour SVCTE

On November 17 and 18, MetroED welcomed Superintendents Michael Grove of Los Gatos - Saratoga Union High SD, Stella Kemp of Santa Clara USD and Governing Board members from Los Gatos - Saratoga Union High SD, Santa Clara USD, and Kansen Chu from Berryessa SD for a tour of Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE).
Students Sell Custom Metal Ornaments for Classroom Supplies

SVCTE Metals Technology instructor Cassidy Cannizzaro presented to the MetroED Board on Nov. 11. He provided information on how his shop was recently modernized. Students from Metals Technology program are always in demand and get hired as entry-level or intermediate-level employees. This year, students made custom metal ornaments to sell in the SVCTE student store (pictured). The proceeds help fund the program’s consumables.
Congratulations to Marleen Dinis for Obtaining $939,140 in Funding for MetroED Under the Strong WorkForce Program

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO), in partnership with the California Department of Education (CDE), developed the K12 Strong Workforce Program (K12 SWP) as an initiative to provide more middle-skilled workers.

The objective of our SWP project is to increase the number of students who will successfully transition to post-secondary in CTE pathways. By aligning and strengthening a shared vision between SVCTE and community college partner agencies we can generate a K14 pathway that will align and provide services for career pathways success.

This is great news in continuing the amazing work our school and staff do each and every day. Way to go Marleen!
SVAE Toys for Tots

Each year, Toys for Tots donates toys to our Silicon Valley Adult Education (SVAE) CalWORKS students. This week 20 of our adult education students picked out their own toys for their children. We are so grateful for the abundance of toys that were donated by Toys for Tots for our adult education students to be able to bring the joy of Christmas to their families.
