Design, estimate, and construct buildings with carpentry tools and equipment using industry standards. Carpenters find work in union and non-union-operated organizations. An apprentice carpenter advances to the Journeyman level over four years and salary increases dependent on time served and skills mastered. Within four years of entering this trade, wages can exceed $39 per hour. Carpenters who achieve a high level of skill are people-oriented, develop a good business sense, and can become self-employed contractors. The class focuses on academic, technical skills, and employability practices. Students will develop personal and professional skills in the classroom that will transfer to the workplace:

About the Instructor

Evan Clark has experience in all phases of the building trades. He offers students over 20 years of experience and knowledge. Clark has done remodels on both residential and commercial properties. With over 14 years of teaching experience, he offers a piece of in-depth knowledge about carpentry and construction through hands-on experience and time-tested techniques.Clark helps students appreciate the value of this fulfilling and lifelong career. He is trained to be a proctor for OSHA 10 as well as a trainer for forklift certification.

Why do you teach Career and Technical Education? 

Teaching students a practical skill that empowers them to think outside the box. Allowing them to see how powerful CTE can be. I enjoy watching them grow and learn, challenging them to think for themselves and become an employable person. I enjoy teaching different concepts that they might not have understood in a different setting and then making it applicable to real-life situations. That lightbulb moment is what keeps me coming back and makes teaching rich and rewarding.
