CYBERSECURITY (UC "g")
-
Cybersecurity is an increasingly in-demand multidisciplinary field of information technology, computing and engineering that affects every individual, organization, and nation, in both public and private sectors. However, there is a severe shortage of cybersecurity workers. As of 2021, the U.S. had over 1 million cybersecurity experts, yet 755,000 open jobs remained. To meet this urgent and growing demand, certifications and emerging training are powerful tools which can transform a career in cybersecurity. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that the median annual salary for cybersecurity analysts is $102,600. Students will be introduced to the principles of cybersecurity, explore emerging technologies, and examine threats and protective measures. To be a skilled cybersecurity expert, students need technical skills such as risk assessment, intrusion detection, pro ciency in coding and programming languages in addition to familiarity with Mac, Windows, Chrome and Linux operating systems (OS). This course prepares students with critical skills to be responsible citizens in a digital future.
